Scrumptious
March 29, 2005 at 5:18 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentScrumptious was the meal the night before
rise and fall eases the blanket
against her gentle flesh of morning
Constant, this Monterey sea breeze
Full of distant life and refreshing glory.
Seeing her up close makes me envious of the air in her lungs
the chair in her office
the food in her belly.
Oh, what I would give to be there,
In the rain
with no raincoat, no hat. Just to feel the moisture
on my skin. The pressure of the wind
Tickling my nerves and cleansing my soul.
For now, I’ll hold what I can
in my hand and in my mind.
I know her touch and
I know she will be there, the constant Monterey breeze.
Morning Sunshine
March 26, 2005 at 3:58 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentIs sending me through the roof… My desperate desire to sleep is vanquished
in this flash of sunshine.
She is…
More than just that ray of light
or that bit of warmth that warms me in my dark sweater
Her touch, is a wave that causes my soul to jump
My eyes open wide and even the hairs on my arms stand erect
in anticipation.
Her movement, is an energy unlike any other
radiating through the room – electric pump
that drives my heart to beat stronger – more blood
in my veins.
Soul so full it’s overflowing.
The impact of the sun on a spring morning.

maybe there is more to life than breakfast and coffee. Pancakes, bacon, eggs and a small orange slice to freshen the breath.
Have I molted and lost my old skin, perhaps.
I think maybe I lost a finger as I pealed the old skin off. I feel a bit like something is missing.
But I do feel larger, stronger… a bit more willing to confront the world.
Maybe my fingers are just so long now, they stretch past the places I’ve grown comfortable with… like that hard to itch spot on your upper back… familiar places are no longer familiar…
Hmm… could be, simple.
Bugs that do headstands
March 12, 2005 at 4:39 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a Commentbrown dirt highways litter a field near Carmel
Folks with dogs maintain them every day
with their tiny footsteps and scuffling feet
when it’s dry the dust flies into the air and coats the grass and trees
until the whole valley is brown
but now it is green. it is wet. flowers are blooming
China houses, buttercups, pine apple plants, the air is a fragrance
much better than pig sweat…
Tiny bugs set off across these highways
Little feet moving fast as they can
when a dog pokes his nose at them
they lean forward on their heads, butts high in the air
I’ll fart at you! They scream
and the dog, he either leaves, or get a most unpleasant surprise
Stink bugs as they call them,
They must eat a lot of chili.
